The short answer

Treat coco like hydroponics, not soil. Feed every time you water, keep pH between 5.8 and 6.2, add cal-mag from the first real watering, and water daily once the plant has roots. Seedlings get a mild feed around 0.4 to 0.6 EC. Veg runs 0.8 to 1.4 EC. Flower climbs from about 1.2 to 2.0 EC, then drops during the final flush. Coco should never dry out completely, and you want 10 to 20 percent runoff each feed.

Why coco changes the feeding schedule

Coco coir is not soil. It holds water but drains fast, and it has little nutrient value of its own. It also has a high cation exchange capacity, which means it grabs calcium and magnesium and holds them away from your roots. That is why coco growers supplement cal-mag and why a plain soil feed usually shows deficiencies in coco. Coco also holds potassium and sodium from processing, so buffering matters. I look for a pre-buffered coco or I charge it with cal-mag before planting.

Because coco is airy and nearly inert, you can feed small amounts often instead of big feeds once a week. Daily fertigation keeps the root zone stable. Letting coco go bone dry pushes EC up and locks out nutrients.

pH and EC in coco

pH drifts in coco faster than in soil. Check input pH every feed and check runoff once a week. A runoff pH far below 5.5 or above 6.5 tells you salts are building up. EC is your salt gauge. Input EC tells the plant what is available. Runoff EC tells you what is left. If runoff EC is high, back off the feed. If it is low, the plant is eating and you can push a little more.

Mistakes that wreck a coco feed plan

Treating coco like soil and watering every three days is the big one. Coco needs oxygen and water at the same time, so small frequent feeds beat soaking and drying. The second mistake is skipping cal-mag because the bottle says coco formula. Many coco nutrients still need extra magnesium. The third is chasing pH with heavy adjusters and never checking runoff. Keep it simple: feed every water, check pH, watch runoff EC, and adjust one variable at a time.
